Looking for a curriculum-linked workshop that combines hands-on art with careers education? I’m Carolyn Clayton, an artist ceramicist based in Shropshire, and I travel to schools across the UK to deliver engaging ceramics workshops. Ideally I suggest offering two 2-hour sessions, each for up to 50 students, starting with a presentation about my journey as a ceramicist, followed by pottery and soft skills activities, perfect for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. What’s Included in My Full-Day Workshop?
My full-day workshop serves up to 60 students across two 2-hour sessions (30 students per session) and includes:
- Personal Presentation: I start each session with a talk about my life and career as a ceramicist, inspiring students to pursue their passions.
- Interactive Ceramics Session: I teach hand-building and sculpting with clay.
Soft Skills Activities: I lead group tasks to develop leadership and emotional intelligence. - Flexible Format: I can adjust session lengths or structure (e.g., shorter sessions for smaller groups) to suit your school’s needs.
- Materials: If your school has a kiln room and ceramics program, you can provide the clay. For schools without a pottery room or kiln, I supply high-quality air-drying clay, the best stuff for easy, mess-free creations.
